What happens when you hire me as your doula:

  1. Initial Consultation: I meet with you to talk about what I can offer and what you’re looking for in a doula. We’ll also discuss cost and payment options during this meeting so there’s no surprises later. This consultation is free, no strings attached. If you decide you don’t want me as your doula, no hard feelings! This can happen at any point during your pregnancy, but earlier is better.
  2. Birth Plan Consultation: After you’ve decided you want me on your team, we’ll schedule a birth plan consultation. If you already have a birth plan, we’ll go over it so I know what your goals and preferences are. If you don’t quite have one yet, we’ll make it together! I’ll also give you some exercises you can do and comfort measures you can practice as your birth gets closer to help things go more smoothly when the time comes.
  3. Ongoing Communication: In between meetings, feel free to contact me via email or text with questions you have about the labor process or things you can do to help you prepare. I’m here for you!
  4. Labor & Delivery: When the big day arrives and you are heading to your preferred birth location (hospital, birthing center, your own home, etc), you call (or have a partner or another birth team member call) and I come running. I will stay with you throughout the birth and after as long as you need me there. Some moms prefer to have their doula leave when the rest of the birth team does so they can get some rest, while others want their doula to stay a while longer until they feel settled.
  5. Postpartum Check-In: Included with the cost of hiring me as your doula is a postpartum check-in visit. This can be virtual or in person, depending on your preferences. During this check-in I’ll be looking for ways to support you as you and your family adjust to the new routines that come with a newborn. If you feel you’re struggling or need extra support, this is the time to reach out. You can either schedule additional postpartum support (at an additional cost), or I can connect you to support resources in your area. This can include lactation support, resources like clothes, diapers, formula, cribs, car seats, etc, or even mental health support if needed.
